Steve Hartman is an American journalist who currently serves as a CBS News correspondent based in New York since 1998. Prior to CBS News, Hartman served at WABC-TV in New York (1991-94) and KSTP-TV in Minneapolis (1987-91).
Hartman is the host of an American newsmagazine show known as On the Road program that focuses on consumer and human interest issues. Hartman also serves as Good Morning America’s primary anchor as well. For the Fox Sports Radio Network, he also served as the host of a national sports radio show. He also worked as a sports anchor/reporter for the Los Angeles television station KTLA.

Hartman is well known for his multiple award-winning feature series, “Everybody Has a Story.” Hartman proved the adage by tossing a dart at a map of America and then randomly picking an interview subject from the local phone book. Debuting in 1998, and continuing for the next seven years, Hartman produced 123 such stories.
In 2010, Hartman reprised the series on a global scale. In collaboration with NASA, each “Everybody in the World Has a Story” segment began with an astronaut in the International Space Station rotating the globe and pointing to random locations for Hartman to visit and seek a story.
