Stacey Cunningham is an American banker by profession who most recently served as the 67th president of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) (May 2018-Dec 2021). Cunningham rejoined the NYSE in 2012 and was appointed as the exchange’s chief operating officer in 2015. She was appointed president of the NYSE on May 22, 2018. Cunningham is the second female president of the NYSE, but the first to hold full leadership of the exchange since its founding in 1792.
Cunningham announced that she planned to step down from her role as NYSE president and join the exchange’s board of directors in December 2021. However, Intercontinental Exchange executive Lynn Martin took over as NYSE president on January 3, 2022.

She made a swift decision to shut down in-person trading at the Exchange on March 23, 2020, as the COVID-19, opting to continue its operations electronically.
