In January 2015, he began a new gig as co-host for “The Nine,” a fun and entertaining news show put on by KTVU.  Castaneda is also a general assignment news reporter for the noon and evening newscasts.

Prior to KTVU, Sal worked as a radio traffic news and sports reporter for Metro Networks in San Francisco, where he appeared on various radio stations. He also worked as a disc jockey for Live 105, a San Francisco-based alternative radio station, in the early 1990s. Castaneda played the part of a newscaster on a 2010 episode of NBC’s Trauma.
