From 1991 until 1993, she worked as a weather forecaster for WBIR-TV in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she started her media career. While there, Lisa earned her forecasting Seal of Approval from the American Meteorology Society. She then left the station and relocated to Chicago, where she worked as a weather forecaster for the FOX-owned WFLD station for another two years. There, she forecasted weather as well as updates on the lake effect snow and the ‘Alberta Clippers’ that give Chicago winters their fame.
In 1995, Argen was awarded a big opportunity to move to San Francisco to kickstart what would be an incredibly successful career at KGO-TV.
Lisa also worked as a meteorologist for the KRON station for 5 years before taking a break of two years and relocated to Hawaii with her family. She also used the break to focus more on parenting her growing family. Nevertheless, before developing a case of island fever.
However, Lisa says her biggest weather challenge was the El Nino winter of 1997. Tremendous pacific storms brought drenching rains and damaging winds to the Bay Area. She recalls that she has never seen it rain that hard in her life! That was the year she was honored for a second time with an award for forecasting by the Bay Area Women in Radio and Television.
In 1997 and 2007, the American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT) honored Lisa for her forecasting work & covering the EL Nino winter of 1997. In addition to this, she was selected to join The National Weather Association.
