Peters began her television career with WXVT-TV 15 in Greenville, MS (Nov 2011 – Jun 2012) as a weekend anchor and reporter. She then moved to WCBI-TV News (Jul 2012 – May 2015) in Columbus, MS. There she covered the devastation left behind after 23 tornadoes ripped through Mississippi on the same day, taking the lives of 14 people. She also interviewed Sabrina Butler, the only woman in America to be exonerated from death row, as she campaigned around the country to eliminate the death penalty.
Peters then joined Spectrum News in Buffalo, New York as a reporter/fill-in anchor (Aug 2015-Aug 2017). In June 2017, she was honored with a New York State Associated Press Award for Public Service. She contributed to a series of stories about city sidewalk safety after a 7-month-old baby in a stroller was hit by a car and killed.
She moved to Seattle, Washington to work as a freelance Reporter at KOMO TV (May 2018 – Oct 2019). One of the most exciting things she did in the Pacific Northwest, was to appear on Seattle Refined, a lifestyle show for KOMO News hosted by Gaard Swanson.
Nearly two years after working in Seattle, she returned to Southern CA – San Diego! She began at CBS 8 (Oct 2020 – Mar 2022) at the height of the pandemic in late 2020, working remotely. Still, she was able to really connect with the community and do the work she has always wanted to do: stories about people! She also continued to educate the next generation of journalists at Palomar College in San Diego County, teaching a broadcast and media writing course online.
