Leonard is a squamous cell skin cancer survivor. He was diagnosed with squamous cell skin cancer in July 2016 afterward, he went to the doctor where he received the confirmation after a biopsy. However, in August of the same year, he had surgery on his lower lip to remove cancer, followed by plastic surgery that required more than 40 stitches to repair his lower lip. The MOHs surgery session lasted 5 hours with 7 separate surgical procedures to remove cancer from his lower lip. This forced him to be off the air for a few weeks.
