Dollar established his ministry in 1981 while a student at West Georgia College, where he also met his wife, according to his church’s website. His first service was held in 1986 in an elementary school cafeteria with eight people in attendance, and in 1988, the Dollars purchased the former Atlanta Christian Center Church in College Park. He later renamed the ministry World Changers Church International (WCCI).

On December 24, 1995, the ministry moved into its current location, the 8,500-seat “World Dome” on Burdett Road. However, as of 2007, the congregation reported having over 30,000 members from across the world and $70 million in revenue (gross cash collections) for 2006. The co-pastor of the organization is his wife, Taffi Dollar. Creflo is also very controversial for teaching “prosperity theology.”Dollar also speaks at conferences and writes about his gospel of wealth and his involvement in televangelism.

Creflo Dollar Jet

In 2015, Rev Creflo Dollar asked his followers to dig deep to help him buy the world’s fastest private jet – a Gulfstream G650 – to replace his older model. However, he asked his parishioners to open their hearts and wallets and help foot the $65m bill.

Dollar’s first fundraising effort for the plane, “Project G650,” was dropped in March 2015, just days after it was announced. A video outlining the campaign encouraged Dollar’s followers to donate at least $300 each towards the purchase of a luxury jet. The ministry explained in the video that the televangelist’s current jet was over 30 years old and damaged in November.

“We plan to acquire a Gulfstream G650 because it is the best, and it is a reflection of the level of excellence at which this organization chooses to operate,” leaders of World Changers Church International said.

Dollar’s ministry sought $300 donations from 200,000 people in order to purchase the Gulfstream G650, a twin-engine jet that will comfortably seat 18. Those 18 seats would allow Dollar, his wife Taffi, and 16 others to safely share the love of Jesus, a spokesman for the ministry said.

Dollar’s request for the top-of-the-line plane drew sharp criticism from many who questioned the need for such a high-priced investment.
Dollar fired back in front of his congregation in a video posted on YouTube. “If I want to believe God for a $65 million plane, you cannot stop me,” Dollar told his followers. “You cannot stop me from dreaming. I’m gonna dream until Jesus comes.”

Creflo Dollar On Tithing

Pastor Creflo Dollar has admitted that he misled congregants and apologized for his tithing teachings. Over the years Dollar has written books and made video recordings about the obligation for Christians to pay tithe in the churches. However, in a sermon titled ‘The Great Misunderstanding’ from June 26th, 2022; Dollar publicly admitted that he misled congregants on tithing teachings, stating that it was not biblical to tithe but up to individuals to offer according to their heart and ability. Dollar received praise and criticism at the same time for these statements.

However, he said he might lose some professional engagements after his confession but added that this was something that he’s been through. During the Sunday service, the pastor said: “I will say that I have no shame at all at saying to you throw away every book, every tape, and every video I ever did on the subject of tithing. Unless it lines up with this (the Bible).
