Anderson Cooper is an American journalist and political commentator from the Vanderbilt family who currently serves as the primary anchor of the CNN news broadcast show Anderson Cooper 360°. In addition to his duties at CNN, Cooper serves as a correspondent for 60 Minutes on the CBS News program since 2007.

Unfortunately, in 1978, Cooper’s father died during open-heart surgery, a tragedy that would influence the way Cooper lived his life. Tragedy struck his family again a decade later, when his brother, Carter Vanderbilt Cooper, committed suicide by jumping to his death from the 14th-floor window of their mother’s New York City apartment at the age of 23. Her mother Vanderbilt died at her home in Manhattan on June 17, 2019, aged 95 of stomach cancer.
